A company with the name OmniVision has just created a a new 14.6MP image sensor specifically for cellphones which will give them the ability to shoot 1080p HD video at 60 frames-per-second. Considering that we’re talking about cellphones here, that’s quite an awesome upgrade.
The OV14825 image sensor is designed also for a low power consumption and will hopefully enter mass production in the second quarter of this year. There’s no word on when we’ll start seeing it in cellphones or even whether the phones will be hitting the market in the near future.
We’d love to hear your comments about this… Do you actually use your phone’s camera and video capturing capabilities? Is the camera specification an important feature for you when you are looking for a new phone?
